STUDENT COUNCIL: Our Student Council is composed of students representatives from each kindergarten through 5th grade class. We meet twice a month on the second and fourth Mondays, 2:10 - 2:40 in the lunchroom. The goals of the student council are:

    1. To provide students with leadership skills development through participation in the meetings and reporting Council business to their classmates.
    2. To promote student participation in planning and implementation of student projects.
    3. To encourage student participation in developing programs focused on teaching, learning and positive social development.

Our Student Council representatives were elected by their classes during the month of September.

THANK YOU Students, Staff and Parents! We completed our annual world service project on February 12 through Students Rebuild Literacy Challenge. Our school community made 2,140 bookmarks for the Save the Children's Literacy Boost program. We made bookmarks in our classrooms, during recesses, and at home. For each bookmark we sent in, the Bezos family will donate $2 to purchase books for children in Mali, Nepal and Peru for a total of $4,280! The books will help the students with their reading and increase their self-confidence! We appreciate you all--Dunlap Literacy Team is AWESOME!

Our Every Day is Earth Day Program will continue this year beginning with a weekly cleanup by classrooms. Our goal is to eliminate litter by our students on the playground as we learn about taking care of the earth in our science classes. Other recycling events will be determined by our 2014-15 Student Council members.

Box Tops for Education News: Thank you for helping us send in 1,400 Box Tops for our first deadline! We are paid 10 cents for each box top, so we will receive payment for $140.00 in December 2015. Please have your student(s) bring Box Tops to school and put them in their classroom collection envelopes. Also remind your family members, friends and community folks to collect Box Tops for our students and send them to school. The remaining collection deadlines for this school year are February 23, 2015 and June 8, 2015. Our goal is $500.00 or 5,000 Box Tops! We follow the guidelines of the National Association of Student Councils. For additional information, please contact Mrs. Brown at 206-252-7002.
